After reading this post by the always interesting Lavender and yolk, I now feel compelled to tell you about the food I hunted down when I was in America.
It was pie.
Not savoury pie, it had to be sweet pie
Pie just seems so 'small town' America to me,
which is the America I wanted to see.
Both my favourite movie/ book of all time is "Fried green tomatoes at the whistle stop cafe"
Pie is mentioned a lot.
So I went to as many small towns as I could, frighting the locals with my weird "New Zealandness"
They didn't quite know what to make of our accents and my requests for good pie.
I also love this book....a true story of finding pie
